Gardeners looking to produce even more of their own food may want to consider one of the upcoming classes in aquaponics scheduled in White Salmon.
What is aquaponics? Growing fish and plants together in a symbiotic system.
Why stop gardening just because winter is almost here? With aquaponics, gardeners can grow their own groceries at home year-round.
Register for “Aquaponics for Everyone” classes to be held in the gorge. They are hands-on 2½ hour workshops teaching the hows and whys of aquaponics. Participants will get their own personal aquaponic system to take home; and learn how to maintain it. Choose the class most convenient for you: Friday, Dec. 6; or Tuesday, Dec. 10. Cost is $20 per person plus $12 for supplies. Classes will be from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at Mountain View Grange in White Salmon. Classes are taught by the Converse family at Fresh from the Farm.
