Having added melted butter and spices, Shyanna Nails and Jordan Fus tie turkeys into bags prior to loading them into ovens at the Columbia Gorge Community College’s commercial kitchen in preparation for the Community Thanksgiving meal Thursday starting at noon at St. Mary‘s Academy.

Chenowith Elementary kindergarten student Thomas Wickerham, wearing an “Indian” headdress, grabs a cranberry to see what the unsugared berry tastes like during a “Thanksgiving feast” at the school. A small nibble, and the berry was discarded. Students made their own cornbread and butter, served with side dishes of popcorn.
