A musical Thanksgiving interlude Sunday Dec. 1

This Sunday, Dec. 1, beginning at 3 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church at 101 W. 10th St. in The Dalles, the Walworth Music Foundation will be kicking off it’s first-ever “mini organ crawl,” featuring performances from Robert Tupper, accomplished organist and professor of music.

“We want to do something special, smaller, and more specific than what’s been done in the past,” said Lloyd Walworth, head of the foundation. “It’s a way to show our gratitude for Robert Carsner, who was responsible for getting the very first organ crawls up and running in The Dalles and has inspired us to highlight and celebrate the pipe organs in the community during this season of thanks.”

After Tupper concludes his performance at Zion Lutheran, the program will progress to the Christian Science Church, and from there will move on to its final destination of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, located near Mid-Columbia Medical Center.

Walworth said each piece included in Tupper’s performance repertoire will “compliment the different instruments’ unique qualities as well as showcase their greatest strengths.”

The program is expected to conclude around 5 p.m. and all proceeds go directly to the Walworth Music Foundation, which supports talented K-12 students from the Columbia Gorge who seek to further their musical educations through private lessons.
