For her first attempt at organizing a fundraiser run, Camp Morrow board member Summer Smith was pleased with the end result.
In all, 37 signed in for the inaugural running of the camp Morrow 1k and 5k run/walk in Wamic.
“We had a great turnout for our first year,” Smith said.
In the 1k race, one minute separated first through sixth place, as Ben Birman took control and worked his way to first place in four minutes and 24 seconds.
Micah Noorthoek placed second in 4:49, Emma Smith and Gordon Anderson each tallied third with their 4:51, Shiloh Noorthoek added a 4:51 for fifth place, and Sharon Noorthoek came in sixth after strutting out a 5:25.
Ella Smith (5:44), Lois Shetler (5:46), Brandi Barker (6:33), Hannah Noland (6:34), Kalysa Shetler (7:12), Dax Cooper (7:15), Jamie Nelson (8:13), Katie Nelson (8:15) and Sarah Routson (8:17) rounded out the top-15.
On the 5k side, Josiah Shetler lapped the field of 17 for top recognition with his final marker of 24 minutes and 10 seconds, besting Birch Teele, who managed a 24:14 for a respectable finish of second place.
Stephen Bradley (24:48), Abby Birman (27:24), Dan Webb (30:13), Gordon Anderson (30:14), Chris Webb (31:49), Becky Routson (31:54), Kellie Kane (31:59), and Jax Cooper (31:59) capped the top-10 participants.
Camp Morrow exists to evangelize and disciple people in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Many youth and family programs are offered in two separate facilities, Lakeshore Retreat and Badger Creek Ranch, both ministries of Camp Morrow.
These facilities are also available to other church and educational groups that are in agreement with our purpose and statement of faith.
