Accidents

The Dalles City

October 4, 1:44 p.m. – Two vehicle, non-injury accident, 500 block of Mt. Hood Street. Officer assisted with the exchange of information, no citations or report issued.

October 5, 7:41 a.m. – Two vehicle, injury accident, 2900 block of West 6th Street. Olga Leon, 38, Dallesport and Katherine Smith, 61, 2818 West 10th St. were the involved drivers. Leon was transported to the hospital for minor injuries sustained in the crash. No citations were issued. A report was taken.

October 5, 10:39 a.m. – Two vehicle, injury accident, 700 block of Hostetler Street. Officer assisted with the exchange of information, no report or citations issued.

October 7, 11:05 p.m. – Single vehicle versus garage, non-injury crash, 500 block of West 11th Street. Driver had turned too sharply and ran into her garage. It was determined no alcohol was involved in this incident, no further assistance was needed.

Oregon State Police

October 4, 3:16 p.m. – Single vehicle, injury accident, Highway 197 near milepost 13. Victoria Rae Lyda, 69, Dufur, was the involved driver. Lyda was driving northbound when she veered into the oncoming lane of traffic; the vehicle went off the road into the gravel causing the vehicle to rollover. Lyda was transported by medics to the hospital for evaluation; a report was taken.

October 5, 12:52 a.m. – Single vehicle, non-injury crash, Highway 97 near milepost 33. Erika Ashley Cote, 25, Lomita, Calif. was the involved driver. Cote was traveling northbound when she drove off the southbound shoulder and hit a reflector after swerving to avoid hitting an animal. The vehicle was towed. No citations were issued.

Fire

October 7, 9:05 a.m. – Crews responded to the 1900 block of East 19th Street on a report of a fire alarm. Prior to arrival the units were cancelled as the cause of the alarm was a malfunction and there was no problem.

Personnel also responded to seven calls for emergency medical services on Friday, six on Saturday, seven on Sunday and five on Monday.

Police Reports

The Dalles City

A third-degree theft report was taken Friday morning from the 1500 block of East 11th Street after a victim reported someone came into her backyard overnight and took some items.

A male subject was contacted Friday evening in the 2800 block of West 7th Street for suspicious activity. He was cited and released for possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.

An agency assist report was taken Friday evening from the In-Lieu site after helping tribal officers search for a juvenile listed as a runaway. The subject was not found but tribal officers arrested a subject on a municipal court warrant, officers assisted with that detainment.

Travis Monroe Dodson, 31, no listed address, was arrested Friday evening in the 900 block of Walnut Street on a circuit court warrant for probation violation.

An assault report was taken early Saturday morning from the hospital after a female victim reported she was pushed off the coach by her husband. The incident is under investigation.

Police responded to the 2400 block of East 17th Street Saturday morning on a report of sex abuse. The incident is under investigation.

Michael David Shinnick, 42, no listed address, was arrested Saturday morning in the 600 block of West 2nd Street and is accused of second-degree disorderly conduct, harassment, second-degree criminal mischief, and resisting arrest.

A criminal mischief report was taken Saturday afternoon from the 1500 block of East 12th Street after a victim reported her vehicle was spray painted overnight.

A death report was taken Saturday afternoon from the 3300 block of Columbia View Drive after a caller reported she returned home and found a friend deceased in her home. The incident is under investigation.

A hit and run report was taken Saturday afternoon from the 700 block of Lincoln Street.

Joel Philip Winters, 25, 323 West 8th St., was arrested Saturday afternoon in the 700 block of Union Street and is accused of three counts of first-degree sexual abuse.

A theft report was taken Saturday afternoon from the 2600 block of East 18th Street after a victim reported her purse was stolen.

A second-degree theft report was taken Saturday evening from the 1300 block of West 6th Street after an employee advised a suspect fled the store with some merchandise without paying.

A hit and run report was taken Sunday evening from the 1500 block of West 6th Street.

A criminal mischief report was taken Sunday evening from the 900 block of Floral Street after a victim reported his trailer was spray painted.

Melvin Lee Taylor, 47, 3817 West 7th St. No. 33, was arrested early Monday morning in the 2700 block of West 7th Street on a circuit court warrant for second-degree failure to appear.

Jaimie Lynn Smith, 34, no listed address, was arrested Monday afternoon at East 4th and Court streets and is accused of 40 counts of telephonic harassment and interference with a police officer.

A runaway report was taken Monday afternoon from the 1100 block of West 2nd Street.

A dog bite report was taken Monday afternoon from the 800 block of Home Court.

Wasco County

Jeremy Edward Adams, 24, 3625 West 8th St., was arrested Friday afternoon in the 3800 block of West 10th Street on a circuit court warrant for probation violation.

An animal neglect report was taken Friday afternoon from the 1000 block of Irvine Street after a caller requested a malnourished horse be checked on in the area. The incident is under investigation.

A burglary report was taken Saturday afternoon from Shaniko after a victim reported someone entered a building causing some damage and took some items.

A domestic assault report was taken Saturday evening from the 3800 block of West 10th Street after a victim reported her boyfriend kicked her out of the house and slapped her a few times on the head. The incident is under investigation.

A runaway report was taken early Sunday morning from the 1000 block of Irvine Street. City police located the subject several hours later and he was returned home.

A theft report was taken Sunday morning from the 3800 block of West 10th Street after a victim reported someone stole his medical marijuana plants.

A theft report was taken Sunday afternoon from Wamic after a reported an ATV was stolen.

An unlawful entry into a motor vehicle report was taken Monday morning from the 3300 block of West 13th Street after a victim reported her unlocked vehicle was prowled overnight.

A reckless burning report was taken Monday morning from the 3300 block of West 13th Street after a victim reported someone burned his American flag on his flag pole.

A theft report was taken Monday afternoon from Forest Service Road 43/2610 after a company reported some timber was stolen.

Deputies responded to the 3800 block of West 10th Street Monday evening after a caller reported she observed two male suspects prowling vehicles in the area. Suspects were gone prior to arrival, a report was taken and is under investigation.

Oregon State Police

A male driver was cited and released for driving while suspended, driving uninsured, and failure to renew registration Friday afternoon during a traffic stop on Interstate 84 westbound near milepost 72. The vehicle was impounded.

Ismael Casteneda Diaz, 29, Wasco, was arrested Friday afternoon in his home on a Sherman County warrant for failure to appear.

Christopher Calvin Grayson, 50, 1008 East 13th St., was arrested Saturday evening at East 12th and Kelly streets on a circuit court warrant for probation violation.

Craig Allen Starnes, 44, 1304 Chinook St., was arrested Saturday evening during a traffic stop at West 3rd and Liberty streets and is accused of driving under the influence of intoxicants.

Game trooper responded to the White River Wildlife Refuge Sunday morning after receiving reports of subjects shooting in the area. Two protected birds were found deceased as well as empty beer cans. The suspect was found later and cited and released for unlawful taking of protected birds and offensive littering. His weapon was seized.

A false information to a police officer report was taken Monday evening after a trooper was contacted by a subject who advised her cousin used her name and information during a traffic stop the previous week. A warrant has been issued for the suspect.

Howard Willis Wahpat, 37, Toppenish, Wash., was arrested early Tuesday morning during a traffic stop on Interstate 84 eastbound, milepost 86 and is accused of driving under the influence of intoxicants.

Sherman County

Mark Scott Bowlin, 49, Moro, was arrested Friday morning in the Sherman County courthouse and is accused of four counts of contempt of court.

Natalie Nicole Nichols, 50, Kent, Wash., was arrested Monday evening during a traffic stop and is accused of driving under the influence of intoxicants.

Regional Jail

Roy Joseph Camargo, 32, Kennewick, Wash., was booked and released Friday on a Sherman County court commitment for hit and run.

Erin Elise Harris, 21, Longview, Wash., was jailed Monday on a circuit court commitment for second-degree disorderly conduct.

Bob Wayne Bidlake, 47, Lewiston, Idaho, was booked and released Monday on a circuit court commitment for providing false information to a police officer.

Nathaniel Adam Sheppard, Twain Harte, Calif., was jailed Monday after turning himself in on a Gilliam County warrant for parole violation.

Andrew William Glen Buckles, 25, 1118 Lewis St., was arrested Monday morning in the community corrections office and is accused of probation violation.
