Letter to the Editor: A few questions

— To the editor:

Dear Gary,

I am delighted that you responded to my letter to you. Thank you.

I must admit surprise that you found a way to insert “hate for the jew,” so quickly, based on my question as to whether you accept the new portion of the Bible. I just assumed that you accepted the old. Forgive me if I was wrong. However, if you do accept the old, then my question was really the question I meant to ask.

From what I gather from reading your letters of the past, I will assume you are a courageous, straight-talking man. So I am guessing in your answering my letter, you just overlooked answering my original question: Do you accept the New Testament Portion of the Bible as reliable and true as written in the original language? I will ask it the way you told me I should ask: Do you accept the Bible, old and new.

Gary, you spend a lot of words on limited word count telling about how Christians “hate Jews.” Would you tell me how many Protestant churches you have attended and how many years you have attended, so as to come to the conclusion about our hate? I am very interested as to how you have come to your conclusions.

You wrote, “Either you’re [Jerry] a liar or ignorant of the original language.” I claim ignorance. By the way, where did you study Greek?”

You wrote, “Next letter will respond to your deception of ‘upon this rock’ passage.” Interesting, since I didn’t make any theological claims other than saying Jesus said it. I look forward to you explaining my [not someone else’s] deception, not just declaring me deceptive.

Gary, my friend, I invite you to attend Wasco Church of Christ any time. You will be most welcome. In fact, Gary, I make this offer: if you will come and attend the Sunday School class I teach, I’ll teach any Old Testament book you choose. Then, my friend, you will be qualified to designate Wasco County Church of Christ as Jew haters or not.

By the way, in the classes I teach, everyone is welcome to comment, ask questions and, most importantly, air their disagreements. In fact, I encourage discussion.

Peace be with you, my new friend.

Jerry Krewson, pastor

Wasco Church of Christ
