CAP is currently offering energy assistance

— Mid-Columbia Community Action (CAP) is currently doing energy assistance appointments to help with heating costs.

Current appointments are for households with senior or disabled persons. Contact the closest office to get an appointment, either The Dalles at 541-298-5131 or Hood River at 541-386-4027.

Discount programs are also available through Mid-Columbia Community Action to households with senior or disabled members and who are customers of PUD, City of The Dalles Water and Sewer, The Dalles Disposal, Hood River Garbage and City of Hood River Water and Sewer.

All of the discount programs, as well as the energy assistance programs, use the same income guidelines. The only exception to this rule is the free garbage service offered to households with a member 85 years or older, for which there are no income guidelines.

On other programs, qualifying income levels are based on monthly income and the number of people in the household:

1 - $1,808.91

2 - $2,365.49

3 - $2.922.08

4 - $3,478.67

5 - $4,035.25

For the general population, CAP will start making appointments Dec. 2. Contact the closest office by phone or in person to get an appointment.

This winter, CAP will again do outreach appointments in Maupin, Tygh Valley, Wamic, Dufur, Cascade Locks, Parkdale, Moro, Rufus and Wasco. Call for more information about available dates.
