Efforts go on to contain fire complex

Government Flats Fire Complex containment remained at 90 percent today.

Areas on the northwest portion of the Blackburn Fire within the complex do not yet have containment lines firmly established yet. Significant mop-up work remains to be done in the heavier fuels in this area, located on the Mt. Hood National Forest, according to information from David Morman of the Oregon Deparment of Forestry.

Isolated smoke may also continue to be visible in the interior of other areas of the largest fire in the complex.

This morning, management of the portion of the fire on the Mt. Hood National Forest was transferred to a U.S. Forest Service Type III team operating out of a new fire camp at Toll Bridge Park in Parkdale.

An area closure remains within the fire perimeter as well as on some Forest Service roads, trails and facilities.
