The Dufur Rangers had a chance to continue their solid start to season and rose to the occasion in a major way with four consecutive wins at the Ranger Volleyball Jamboree Saturday in Dufur.
In all, the Rangers defeated Echo, Alsea, St. Paul and Triad by an average margin of 12.2 points.
Dufur kicked things off with its closest match versus Echo and worked a 25-18 split to grab a win.
They followed up that performance with a lopsided 25-8 drubbing of Alsea, and tacked on a 25-15 romp over St. Paul.
In those three matches, Taylor Darden slammed down 10 kills and 11 aces, and former all-league hitter Montana Ferres chipped in with three kills and a dig.
Senior hitter Teneille McDonald had seven kills, six aces, three digs and a block.
To cap the day, the Rangers hardly broke a sweat in a tussle against Triad, cruising to a dominant 25-10 victory.
Kathryn Johnson led the way with four kills, two digs and two aces.
Tianna Ellis added a kill and a dig, and senior setter, Alexa Macias, threw down four of Dufur’s seven aces.
Dufur head coach Kelly Darden complimented her group on an impressive performance.
“We had a pretty successful day,” coach Darden said. “We looked much better today and played well against a St. Paul squad who promises to be a top contender for their league. It was a great day to look at different rotations and iron out some communication wrinkles before our big match against second place state runner up Imbler next week.”
Dufur (4-0 overall) hits the hardwood once again at 4 p.m. Friday versus highly-touted Imbler.
