Wasco County

Sept. 2, 6:10 p.m. – Non-injury accident, Highway 197 and Eightmile Road. A vehicle was over the embankment and air bags were deployed, but medic was declined. The occupants were taken to Shari’s. Damage was done to the guardrail.

Oregon State Police

Aug. 30, 9:05 p.m. – Single-vehicle rollover, near milepost 3 on US 197. Driver Travie Lee Ferrel, 24, of Tygh Valley, said he swerved to miss a deer, overcorrected and rolled his vehicle. The three occupants suffered very minor injuries. The vehicle was towed.

Sept. 1, 1:47 a.m. – Rollover crash, US 97 at milepost 40 southbound. Driver Nathan Allen Penny, 33, of Redmond, attempted to avoid a deer running across the roadway and lost control. The vehicle ended on its top on the shoulder. Penny was taken to the hospital and his vehicle was towed.


Mid-Columbia Fire & Rescue

Aug. 31, 11:37 a.m. – Fire crews responded to the 900 block of West 13th street on a smoke investigation. A neighbor reported seeing white smoke, but fire crews were unable to see any and returned to quarters.

Sept. 1, 4:31 p.m. – Fire crews responded to a flare-up of the Blackburn Fire above amd to the south of Mill Creek Road. The fire was reported to be about a quarter-acre in size, but as fire crews were responding, they were called off by the state, which said it had a crew on the fire and a helicopter nearby. One engine continued to the scene, saw the fire was smaller than first reported and was well within the already-blackened area of the fire. Fire crews spoke to state officials at the scene and then returned to quarters.

Sept. 2, 9:16 p.m. – After fire crews responded to a car accident, a neighbor flagged them down and said he had a leaking propane tank at his house. Fire crews could not detect any leaking propane and advised the owner to store the bottle in an open area outside and to have the bottle serviced by a certified propane technician if the bottle is still leaking.

Sept. 3, 11:32 p.m. – Personnel responded to Dallesport to assist on a structure fire. Units were cancelled while enroute by Dallesport units who advised the fire was out.

Personnel also responded to 11 calls for emergency service on Friday, seven on Saturday, seven on Sunday, five on Monday and four on Tuesday.

The Dalles City

A theft by deception report was taken Tuesday morning from the 1500 block of East 9th Street after a victim reported being part of an online scam.

A second-degree animal neglect report was taken Tuesday morning from the 200 block of River Road.

An identity theft report was taken Tuesday afternoon after a victim in Montana advised there were local fraudulent charges on his credit report, the incident is under investigation.

Michael David Shinnick, 42, no listed address, was detained Tuesday afternoon in the 400 block of Mt. Hood Street on a civil detoxification. He was jailed at the regional jail and released after sobering up.

A second-degree theft report was taken Tuesday afternoon from the 700 block of Court Street after a victim reported he let an unknown female use his cell phone and she did not return it.

Vernie Lavone Dempsey, 47, no listed address, was arrested Tuesday evening at City Park and is accused of unlawful possession of methamphetamine.

Wasco County

Rodney Gene Jones, 38, general delivery, The Dalles, was arrested Friday morning on Fivemile Road near the gravel pit and is accused of probation violation, failure to appear and unlawful possession of methamphetamine.

Javier Alvarez Sepulveda, 54, 900 Vey Way No. 308, was arrested Saturday in the 2100 block of West Sixth Street and is accused of driving under the influence of intoxicants.

Deputies responded to Sandy Beach Sunday afternoon to a man with a head wound.

A stolen pink log truck reported missing out of Klickitat County was recovered in the 5700 block of Fifteenmile Road Sunday evening. It was towed to a lot and the owner will come get it.

A woman in the 3800 block of West 10th Street reported Sunday evening a group of 10 to 15 male youths on bicycles were going through vehicles and mailboxes in the neighborhood.

A woman in the 6600 block of Boyd Loop Road reported late Sunday evening her boyfriend took her vehicle, cell phone and purse without her permission and he doesn’t have a driver’s license.

James Earl Mulvaney, 19, 1106 Emerson No. 3, was arrested Monday near Westgate on two charges of probation violation.

Regional jail staff reported Monday evening an inmate believed another inmate drugged him by putting an unknown substance in his beverage that morning.

Jimmy Lee Cain, 21, 3817 West 10th St. No. 43, was arrested Tuesday afternoon in the 4100 block of Chenowith Road on a circuit court warrant for two counts of probation violation.

Maria Calderon Diaz, 23, Tygh Valley, was arrested in Wamic Tuesday evening and is accused of harassment, second-degree criminal trespass, and third-degree criminal mischief.

Oregon State Police

A vehicle was stopped Friday night for expired tags. The driver had no insurance and the vehicle was towed.

A man turned in three bottles of pills Saturday evening, which included a prescription drug for kidney disorders that he found near the beach of the Columbia River in Dallesport.

A driver was pulled over Sunday evening in Rowena because the passenger wasn’t wearing a seat belt. The driver was cited for no operator’s license and no insurance and the passenger was cited for no seatbelt and the pickup was towed.

A driver was stopped for speeding Monday evening and was found to have a suspended license for driving uninsured. The vehicle was towed.

A driver was stopped for no license plate light. She said she had let her insurance lapse. The vehicle was towed for no insurance and the driver was cited for driving uninsured and no seatbelts in use by children ages five and 10.

Tamera Elizabeth Clemons-Pimley, 40, Hood River, was arrested in Mosier Tuesday evening during a traffic stop and is accused of unlawful possession of methamphetamine.

David Craig Dixon, 50, Wasco, was arrested Tuesday evening during a traffic stop on West 6th and Division streets and is accused of driving under the influence of intoxicants.

Gilliam County

Russell Calvin Corley, 51, Condon, was arrested in Condon Monday evening and is accused of fourth-degree assault and strangulation.

Enrique Flores, 32, Madera, Calif., was arrested Sunday evening on Interstate 84, milepost 143 eastbound and is accused of unlawful possession of methamphetamine and unlawful possession of marijuana.

Regional Jail

Thomas Elliott West, 32, 1006 Snipes St., was transported by Multnomah County and jailed after being arrested on a state parole warrant for parole violation.

Natalia Tyesa Neal, 31, Portland, was transported by Multnomah County and jailed after being arrested on a Sherman County warrant for probation violation.

Martin Joseph Darke, 40, Kenmare, North Dakota, was transported by Umatilla County and jailed after being arrested on a circuit court warrant for second-degree failure to appear.

Emily Keagan Smith, 24, no listed address, was jailed Tuesday on a circuit court commitment for contempt of court.
