The Dalles Trail problem
To the editor:
Let me begin by saying that I am a dog lover and walk mine almost every day. Last week on a beautiful warm evening, we headed down Union to walk east on the River Front Trail. The odor was noticeable as soon as we got out of the car and the cause was soon discovered. The trail was lined with piles of dog waste almost every foot or so. Owners are responsible for this and seem to choose not to deal with it.
The trail is for everyone to enjoy and the piles along the way are not only an eyesore but also a health problem as Parvovirus is transferred to other pets via waste.
It is the responsibility of the dog owner to pick up after his pet and make public areas clean and pleasant. I think it is also unlawful to leave poop behind. Please consider picking up after your pet.
