This October the town of Klickitat will welcome a parade of veterans for the third annual Hunting with Heroes event.
One hundred American flags will line both sides of Highway 142 from the Klickitat sign to the Canyon Market Friday Oct. 11.
At about 11 a.m., a parade of Hunting with Heroes vehicles will pull into the town and meet at the Klickitat Canyon Market where the Girl Scouts of Klickitat will hang a sign they have been working on to honor and welcome these veterans.
Eleven-year-old Seaera White of Klickitat will sing the National Anthem.
The women’s a cappella group, Harmony of the Gorge, a member group of Sweet Adelines International, will also be there, singing some military songs they have prepared for the men and women participating in the “Hunting with Heroes” weekend.
The Hunting with Heroes event not only helps the local, Klickitat economy, but it also brings the community together to celebrate and thank those that protect and serve the country.
“Hunting with Heroes is a wonderful organization and we are proud they chose our community for the program,” said Carl Coolidge, owner of the Canyon Market in Klickitat. “Hunting with Heroes brings recognition to our small community, helping us to build tourism and the hunting and fishing businesses on which our town depends. More importantly though, Hunting with Heroes gives back to the men and women who were willing to sacrifice everything for the freedoms we enjoy today..”
The town of Klickitat, and surrounding areas, are invited to come out, Oct. 11, at 11 a.m. and salute the military men and women as they begin their weekend of hunting and fishing.
