Oregon State University responds to internet threat

CORVALLIS, (AP) — The State Police say more officers will be at Oregon State University as a result of an online threat "directed at the campus."

In a statement made Thursday, police didn't describe the nature of the threat. They said it appeared to have originated outside the Northwest and didn't mention a person or campus location.

Officers will be on campus to monitor activities as new students arrive for orientation and the start of classes next week.

An alert went out to students Thursday after authorities learned of the threat.
