Letter to the editor: A new record

To the editor:

On March 28 and 29, the Wasco County Sheriff’s Office, Oregon State Police and Wasco County Sheriff’s Mounted Posse came together to support Special Olympics at Spooky’s Pizza in The Dalles. This event aptly named “Tip a Cop” annually raises money to fund our local Special Olympians in the Mid-Columbia area. Local law enforcement serves food, busses tables at Spookys and in return are tipped by patrons for the service we provide. Every tip you provide goes directly to our local Special Olympians for the purchase of uniforms, gas money to attend tournaments, special athletic equipment or other items needed to support the local organization. This year was no different than previous years with one exception — you tipped $2780.61, which is A NEW RECORD! I want to personally extend my appreciation to the citizens who donated as well as to Spooky’s Pizza for generously allowing us to put on this annual event. It gives me great pleasure to know our local citizens support our community in such a positive way.

Thanks again for your support and we look forward to seeing you next year!

Lane Magill

Chief Deputy

Wasco County
