Gorge Open Studio Tour set for this weekend

Visit Columbia Gorge artists in their natural habitats this weekend.

Artists will throw open their studio doors April 11, 12 and 13 for the Gorge Artists Open Studios Tour.

This is an opportunity to ask artists about their inspiration and process, and to see artists at work. On the tour are 40 artists working in many different media including painting, drawing, jewelry, glass, sculpture, fiber, mixed media and more. This year’s artists are located all over the scenic Columbia River Gorge; from Hood River to The Dalles and Parkdale to Trout Lake.

The tour is free and open to everyone. It is self-guided with detailed maps available of the whole route and some communities will also have local maps with extra events and information for their area. Artists will have work available for purchase. All participating artists have been juried in. They represent the highest quality of work available in the region and a broad spectrum of media, styles and subject matter.

The event is also an opportunity to enjoy the gorge scenic area, famous for dramatic views along the Columbia River, waterfalls and hiking trails, windsurfers and kite boarders. It is also becoming known as a great place to experience art. It also an opportunity to take in the local food, and hand-crafted beer and wine, and the lodging for those wishing to take in the entire weekend.
