Mid-Columbia Fire & Rescue

April 9, 6:01 p.m. – Personnel responded to the 1200 block of West 6th Street on a report of smoke coming from a washing machine. Light smoke was observed upon entering the building along with an electrical smell. The unit was hot to the touch and when the back panel of the unit was removed the odor got stronger. It appeared the motor was overheating. The unit was placed out of service until it could be fixed. No other damage was observed.

Personnel also responded to four calls for emergency medical services.

The Dalles City

A hit and run report was taken Wednesday morning at a location undisclosed by the department.

Police responded to a location undisclosed by the department Wednesday afternoon after a caller reported observing a suspicious male subject sitting in front of a vacant home. Contact was made with the subject who was staying with a friend who was not home. He was waiting on the steps of a vacant home until his friend returned.

Police responded to a location undisclosed by the department Wednesday evening after a neighbor reported seeing a male subject enter a home he doesn’t belong at. Contact was made with the suspect who stated he was helping a friend with yard work. The suspect was sent along his way as no one was at the residence.

Wasco County

A found property report was taken Wednesday morning from a location undisclosed by the department after a caller reported finding a wallet in her mailbox.

An informational report was taken Wednesday evening from a location undisclosed by the department after a caller reported a friend was threatened by another subject with a knife.

Jeannie Marie Hembling, 59, Tygh Valley, was arrested Wednesday evening during a traffic stop at a location undisclosed by the department and is accused of driving under the influence of intoxicants.

Oregon State Police

A male passenger was cited and released for possession of less than an ounce of marijuana during a traffic stop Thursday afternoon on Interstate 84 westbound at milepost 88.

Sherman County

Cyril Arvin Frank Jr., 19, Warm Springs, was arrested during a traffic stop Wednesday evening on Interstate 84 near milepost 104.

Regional Jail

Nikkole Elaine Bump, 31, Troutdale, was transported by Multnomah County and jailed after being arrested on a Gilliam County warrant for probation violation.
