Correction

An April 17 story about a medical marijuana dispensary ban by The Dalles City Council incorrectly quoted Maribeth Thouvenel. She said she did not call marijuana a gateway drug, and instead talked about experience as an educator observing the changes in teens when they start recreational use of marijuana. “It is never beneficial,” she said of that circumstance. She supported the ban, she said, because she said dispensaries would legitimize the drug in the eyes of children.
