All five The Dalles golfers ended play with scores under 90s, and the Tribe finished with a combined 378 for 10th place in the 16-team field for the Tetherow Challenge Monday on a windy afternoon at Tetherow Golf Course in Bend.
St. Mary’s scored its second consecutive tournament win in Bend with a final tally of 304, besting Summit by five strokes (309).
Bend (323), Central Catholic (334), North Medford (337) and Pendleton (359) rounded out the top-6.
Crook County (370) ended up seventh, Willamette (373) notched eighth, Churchill (374) was ninth and The Dalles (378) finished up in 10th place.
John Grossen, of St. Mary’s, secured medalist honors with his 3-under par 69.
Summit teammates Jack Loberg (74) and Cole Chrisman (75) finished second and third, respectively, and North Medford’s Dan Schuler scored a 76 for fourth place.
Ryan DeCastilhas, from Bend, rounded out the individual standings with a 77 for fifth place.
For the Eagle Indians, sophomore Bailey Ortega led the squad with his 93.
Chase Snodgrass and Nick Glesener each tallied a 94, and freshman, Mark Felderman, carded a 97.
Coby Conlee wound up his day on the links with a 99 for the Tribe’s final mark.
“We will continue to work on course management, what clubs to use in certain situations and our short chips from 20 and 30 yards out,” said Tribe coach Kent Smith. “We are making good contact, but unfortunately too good, where we end up beyond the flag. I am optimistic though that we will improve a lot more moving forward.”
TD next heads out to the Seaside Invitational Tournament at 10 a.m. Monday.
