Players could only hope to stop Aaron Lee and Josh Clark.
On this weekend, however, this duo was on point, pulling off a trifecta of wins in three events at the 2014 Member-Guest Golf Tournament July 26-27 at The Dalles Country Club.
Bringing some young blood into the mix, Lee and Clark went to work on a tough golf field and joined forces for a 165 to score top honors in The Dalles.
The impressive marks put out by Lee and Clark were 12 strokes better than the second-place tandem of Mitch Huru and Roger Barry, who had a 153, to finish just ahead of Bill Maske and Charlie Clark (152).
In this event, all the tallies etched were tabulated in the Stableford System.
Players earn a point for a net bogey, two points for a net par, three points for a net birdie and four points for an eagle.
Once play is completed, the points scored by the two players are then added together and the team with the most points wins the contest. A par score would be 144, so Lee and Clark chalked up a 21-under par marker.
Taking hold of fourth place in the standings was Chris Cady and John Duran with their 148, and Jim Nordquist and Bruce Harris racked up a 146.
David Re and Jeff Loffler and Pete Barber and Butch Beyerlin wound up in a deadlock for sixth place with 144.
There were three teams finishing tied for eighth place, as the duos of Ray Shepherd and Brian Miller, Gary Briggs and David Sturdyvin and Dave Aichele and Rick Wilson put together scores of 142.
In Sunday’s special event, Lee and Clark kept their mojo going with a final score reading of 78 to defeat Re and Loffler, who had a 77.
Maske and Clark tallied a 76, Shepherd and Miller and Huru and Barry turned in identical scorecards of 74 to notch a fourth-place tie.
Lee and Clark completed the rare golf trifecta by cruising past the field in Sunday’s Honey Pot event by two strokes with a 78 to slip past Maske and Clark, who teamed up for a 76 to secure second place.
Shepherd and Miller ended up tied with Huru and Barry to cash in a third-place check.
