Reunion committee seeks donations, classmates

The Dalles High School Class of 1959 has a special project for its 55th Class Reunion, that of providing special baskets for the recipients of Meals on Wheels on the delivery routes.

Baskets will be filled and decorated and become the centerpieces for the tables at the class reunion Sept. 12 and 13, at The Civic Auditorium. They will be delivered to the Senior Center the following Monday for distribution.

Local citizens are invited to donate items to help class members fill the baskets — lots of baskets — containing special treats for these special residents of our community. Items are due by Friday, Aug 29. They may be dropped off at Courtney Insurance Agency, 410 E. Second St.

Suggestions include: cellophane basket wrap, nice mugs and shiny spoons, ceramic tea bag holders, hot chocolate packets (regular and sugar-free), individual microwave popcorn packets (low calorie), Hershey’s plain chocolate bars or Fun-Size bars, sugar-free candy (chocolate and non-chocolate), small packages of plain M & M’s (dark or milk chocolate), decaf coffee bags (individually wrapped), caffeine-free tea bags (individually wrapped) or small boxes, single-serving shelf

pudding, no sugar added applesauce, Truvia packets (sweetener) and creamer packets, jars of Kraft Old English Cheese Spread (and other flavors, found next to crackers), small boxes of Nice Crackers, cans of tuna and chicken or packets with crackers, small cans or jars of whole black or green olives, small candle holders and battery tealight candles, small packages cookies (nothing “chewy”), Pepperidge Farm Crème-Filled Pirouette Rolled Wafers, large print crossword puzzle, word search books or other nice booklets (smaller sizes, if possible).
