Accidents

Wasco County

Aug. 9, 5:34 p.m. – A man reported a 31-year-old woman fell from an ATV at Springer Mill Road and Heberlein Road. She was semi-conscious and breathing. She was transported to the hospital by Dufur Ambulance.

Fire

Mid-Columbia Fire & Rescue

Aug. 8, 7:48 a.m. – Dispatched to possible tree on fire sparked from a power line. Enroute, an off-duty firefighter who was already on scene reported the fire was out, but still wanted a response. A 20-by-20 foot area was burned below a powerline transformer. The area was a goat pasture with extremely short grass. The entire area was wetted down.

Aug. 10, 6:38 a.m. – Personnel dispatched to a dumpster fire at Chenowith Elementary School. They found smoking, but no flames. They doused the dumpster and moved it well away from the school, where it had been previously positioned under the eaves.

Aug. 10 – Personnel responded to three alarms in a 24-hour period at the Discovery Center.

Aug. 10, 1:01 p.m. – Personnel responded to reports of flames seen from Interstate 84 at milepost 72, on the south side of the freeway. Fire crews already in the area saw no flames, and fire personnel from MCFR also saw nothing.

Aug. 10, 11:14 a.m. – Dispatched to Veterans’ Home on a fire alarm. On arrival, told it was burned popcorn. Returned to quarters.

Crews also responded to one call for emergency medical service on Friday, five on Saturday, two on Sunday, and seven on Monday.

Police Reports

The Dalles City

A man reported Friday morning finding a backpack in his back yard. It contained phones, ID and other items.

An apartment manager reported Friday morning a rock was thrown through a window of a vacant apartment.

A woman reported Friday afternoon she found a black and white possibly Jack Russell terrier mix on her front porch. It was taken to the animal shelter.

A man called Friday afternoon to report the buildings between Court and Washington and First and Second streets have been tagged on the alley side.

An employee at a downtown business reported Friday afternoon someone put a flat screen TV next to their dumpster.

A man Friday evening reported a horrible smell coming from a nearby apartment. He feared a neighbor was dead. They were fine. Officers said the smell is possibly from a garbage can.

A woman reported Friday evening a man was laying in the road across from her house. Officers found a very drunk man and he was given a ride home.

Stephen Randall Shockey, 23, general delivery, The Dalles, was arrested Friday evening in downtown The Dalles on a warrant for failure to appear.

A man called police late Friday to report he was having an argument with a man in a grocery store parking lot and the man threatened to shoot him. The man left, and police contacted the suspect, who did not have a weapon in his vehicle. He was warned for disorderly conduct.

A man reported Friday night someone threw a rock off a hill and smashed his windshield.

A man reported Saturday morning his overweight, brown, one-eyed Chihuahua ran off.

An apartment resident said Saturday morning they pay for two garbage cans and an upstairs neighbor was dumping their garbage in one of them. The upstairs neighbor said they weren’t aware they had to pay for their own garbage service and thought the landlord paid for it. They said they would get their own garbage can.

A woman reported Saturday afternoon her son was assaulted at the new dock. Officers talked to people at the new dock and they claimed to know nothing about it. Also, no one claimed a backpack found in the area, which contained marijuana.

Cory James Widner, 22, 2225 Mosier Creek Rd., was arrested Saturday evening in the 3800 block of West Sixth Street on two Wasco County warrants for possession of methamphetamine.

A man reported Sunday morning almost all the fuel cards were taken out of service trucks, and a suspect might be an employee who was just let go.

Albert Jose Vasquez, 47, 18 Cloudville Ln., Dallesport, was arrested Saturday evening at a business parking lot and is accused of criminal driving while suspended/revoked.

A man called Sunday morning to report graffiti was applied to his retaining wall in the alley in the last couple of weeks. An officer will contact work crew to have them remove it.

A man was asked to leave an apartment Sunday morning after a landlord/tenant issue. He left on foot, but a revolver was seized and a report was taken for felon in possession of a firearm.

A found bike was reported at a downtown business early Monday.

A woman came to a neighbor’s house Monday evening and had a severe cut on her left forearm. She was adamant she fell and was not assaulted. She went to the hospital for stitches.

Wasco County

A man reported Friday morning someone stole his red fiberglass canoe from under his house.

A sergeant advised a vehicle tried to go past road blocks on Chenowith Road at the Rowena Fire Friday evening. The driver was warned.

A man reported Friday evening his daughter came home and discovered a door kicked in.

A man reported Saturday afternoon someone stole their cooler containing about $50 worth of food from a campsite at Sandy Beach.

A man reported Saturday afternoon being sprayed with a water gun from a pink bus heading to Harpham Flat on the Deschutes River. A deputy found the driver of the pink bus, who admitted to spraying the driver of another bus. The man was counseled on his actions.

A loud group, suspected of being drunk, was asked to leave a motel in Maupin late Saturday night, where other guests had locked themselves in their rooms to escape the noise. They left, and a deputy found none of the group in the vehicle he stopped had been drinking. They were told not to come back to the motel.

Joshua Robert Meyer, 28, Gladstone, was arrested at the Oasis Campground on the Deschutes River Sunday evening and is accused of operating a boat under the influence of intoxicants.

A woman reported Sunday evening her son was assaulted nine days ago at Camp Baldwin while there with a Boy Scout group. The boy got into a fight with another boy, and when the boy got up, he spotted a large butter knife and told the boy he was going to “gut him.” The woman’s son told the boy to drop the knife and he did. Adults kept the boys separated. A camp employee said boys pulling knives on each other is “not uncommon” and is used as an opportunity to teach anger management.

Police logs report a man threw a rock at a passing vehicle in Dufur Monday evening, then punched a man twice. The man also kicked a responding deputy. Jason Duane Lewis, 44, 239 Timber Lane, The Dalles, was arrested on charges of second-degree disorderly conduct, third-degree criminal mischief and three counts of harassment.

A Dufur man reported Tuesday morning a truck parked by his freight door with a “big bag of weed” in plain sight on the seat. The man later told two teens associated with the truck that they were trespassed from the property.

A woman reported Monday morning hitting a deer on Mill Creek Road, north of Reservoir Road. A responding deputy was unable to find the deer.

A neighbor reported six kids aged 4 to 17 were left alone by their mother, who went to Portland to meet a man she met on the Internet. The mom was contacted and social services were sent to the scene. No criminal charges were brought at this time. The mom assured it wouldn’t happen again.

A woman reported Monday evening receiving a message from someone telling her if she didn’t return the call immediately, law enforcement would go to her house. She said she’d been having trouble with relatives, but she was told of similar scams. And based on the dialect of the voicemail, the deputy believed it was a scam company from another country.

Oregon State Police

Toby Albert Peterson, 25, Goldendale, was arrested early Saturday at West Sixth and Webber streets and is accused of driving under the influence of intoxicants.

Javier Villarruel, 43, Pasco, Wash., was arrested at milepost 67 on Highway 97 Saturday evening and is accused of driving under the influence of intoxicants and contempt of court.

Sherman County

Francisco Bargas-Valencia, 34, Yakima, was arrested Saturday night at milepost 14 on Highway 197 on two Marion County warrants for failure to appear and being a fugitive from ICE.

Gilliam County

Andrew Christopher Miciak, 18, Mayville, Ore., was arrested Friday night and is accused of violation of release agreement and contempt of court.

Parole and Probation

Deedra Marie Rasmussen, 36, Portland, was arrested early Sunday at the Lower Deschutes Access Road and is accused of parole violation.

Regional Jail

Lisa Marie Riley, 29, 65137 Boyd Loop Rd., Dufur, was remanded to the regional jail on a probation violation.
