Letter to the editor: Do the right thing

To the editor:

For eight years I worked for Northern Wasco County Parks and Recreation District as “the Rose Lady.” For the last two years I’ve continued to volunteer time as a consultant, doing maintenance, etc. I know the people there. We’re a small group.

Lately there have been some astounding accusations made within our park “family.” Knowing all the parties involved, no one could ever convince me of any wrongdoing on the part of Scott Green, our park director.

I have the utmost respect for Mr. Green. He has always been an honorable man and very fair to the employees. As a boss, he’s the best. He cares about the staff, as well as our parks and recreational venues. We’ve seen many improvements over the years he’s been director. The parks are cleaner, greener and safer for the families that use them. We have a new skate park. We’re getting a new pool. We’ve seen new, safer playgrounds for our kids. He has more good ideas to help improve our entire community.

Some people are trying to discredit him and ruin his good name and reputation. Please, let’s not let that happen to this good man. Most of the parks employees and past employees feel the same way I do on these issues. But they are not allowed to voice their opinions. I can and will.

I urge the parks board to do the right thing this time; the moral thing, not just the easy thing.
