Letter to the editor: Caring ‘family’

To the editor:

How do we begin to thank the wonderful friends who became family to our dear Father, John Vaday, at the Oregon Veterans Home for the last 5 years. He came to them from Florida in 2008, in very bad health, and in need of much special care. He was on a path of deep dementia, from which we thought he would never recover, and leave us within a few short months.

The amazing staff of Delta Wing and the precious activities staff, loving cared for Dad and brought him back to full recovery from a drug-induced dementia that we did not know about.

He was then able to be released to Charlie Wing where he thrived under the care of this precious, caring and loving staff for the next 4 years. We got our Father back due to their magnificent care.

We were so blessed to have him back with us physically (to an extent) and most importantly, mentally for the remainder of his life, and he was happy with his new-found family at the Veteran’s Home. He loved you all very much! We will be forever thankful for all of you wonderful people!

God Bless you all for the special work that you do!

The Vaday Family
