Letter to the editor: ‘Kick me’ sign

To the editor:

Once again the Wasco Commissioners have resurrected and posted the “KICK ME” sign for the County by approving a ‘mass gathering’ permit for the What-The-Festival.

This action was taken against the continued, and expressed wishes of the surrounding residents and property owners. Additionally, the Commissioners have refused to create an ‘amplified noise’ ordinance and curfew for the unincorporated sections of the County that would afford the same protection as enjoyed by the incorporated municipalities.

A Chronicle editorial in March of this year encouraged such an ordinance.

It is time that the commissioners understand that they are responsible to, and work for, ALL the residents and property owners of Wasco County, not a single property owner and 5,000 party goers from Portland and Vancouver.

A Woodstock west, belongs at the Gorge Amphitheater, not the rural neighborhoods of our county. Yours could be next.
