Oregon State Police

February 4, 9:22 a.m. – Single vehicle, non-injury crash, Highway 97 milepost 62. Lakhwinder Aoulakh, 36, Kent, was the involved driver. Aoulakh lost control of his semi due to the icy road conditions. The crash was logged.


February 5, 4:59 a.m. – Personnel responded to the 800 block of East 18th St. on a report of a smoke odor investigation. Caller reported there was a heavy smell of smoke in the kitchen but no visible fire. Upon arrival nothing was showing. Entry was made into the home where there was a light scent of smoke which became stronger in the kitchen. The breakers were shut off to the home but there were no apparent signs of anything wrong. The smell dissipated and the occupants were advised to call an electrician.

Personnel also responded to six calls for emergency medical services.

Police Reports

The Dalles City

A hit and run report was taken Tuesday morning after a victim reported his vehicle was hit sometime last month in The Dalles.

Police responded to West 10th and Lincoln streets Tuesday morning on a report of a hit and run. The area was checked but the suspect vehicle was not located. The incident was logged.

An informational report was taken Tuesday afternoon from the 1500 block of East 9th Street after a caller reported her daughter was threatening suicide on Facebook. The incident is under investigation.

Natasha Marie Short, 31, 1721 East 12th St. No. 12, was arrested Tuesday afternoon at the police station on a circuit court warrant for criminal nonsupport.

Police responded to the 3200 block of Bret Clodfelter Way Tuesday evening after an employee called to report a runaway juvenile from out of state was at their business requesting to turn herself in. Contact was made with the juvenile who was released to her grandparents.

Isabella Cathleen Newton, 21, Dallesport, was arrested Tuesday evening from the 1200 block of West 6th Street and is accused of second-degree theft.

A theft report was taken Tuesday evening from the 200 block of East 3rd Street after an employee reported her phone was stolen by a customer; the incident is under investigation.

James Dean Brassfield, 27, 603 East 10th St., was arrested early Wednesday morning in his home and is accused of second-degree theft.

Wasco County

An agency assist report was taken Tuesday morning from the 4100 block of Chenowith Road after assisting Hood River police with an investigation.

A stolen vehicle and burglary reports were taken Tuesday morning from the 3200 block of Fairview Street after a victim reported his vehicle was stolen and his home was broken into. The vehicle was found later in the afternoon and returned to the owner.

Oregon State Police

Benjamin Von Fisk, 41, Hillsboro, was arrested Tuesday evening during a traffic stop on Interstate 84 eastbound, milepost 83 on two Multnomah County warrants for second-degree failure to appear. He is also accused of unlawful possession of methamphetamines.

Regional Jail

Ted Longoria, 46, Hermiston, was booked and released Tuesday on a circuit court commitment for driving while suspended.
