The Fort Dalles Readiness Center on the eastern edge of the campus at Columbia Gorge Community College will be lit up at night for the next two weeks as Hoffman Construction tests the electrical and lighting systems. The 62,689-square-foot structure has been called the “Lantern on the Hill” because of its floor to ceiling windows that provide sweeping views of the gorge. Alpha Company soldiers will move into their new home on March 6 and a grand opening is planned for mid-April.
