SALEM — Amid swirls of snow Feb. 4, Rep. John Huffman (R-The Dalles) accepted a Golden Apple Award on the front steps of the Oregon State Capitol.
The award was presented by the Oregon Virtual Public School Alliance. It commemorates Rep. Huffman’s longstanding legislative efforts to expand education choice for parents and students throughout the state.
“It is an honor to have received recognition for an issue that is very important to me,” Rep. Huffman said. “I will continue to work on these critical issues and vigorously oppose any attempted rollbacks of the education choice reforms that we’ve worked so hard to implement over the years.”
Also receiving the Golden Apple Award from the Oregon Virtual Public School Alliance was Rep. Sal Esquivel (R-Medford).
At the same ceremony, Rep. Gene Whisnant (R-Sunriver), Rep. Betty Komp (D-Woodburn), Rep. Bruce Hanna (R-Roseburg) and Rep. Vicki Berger (R-Salem) were presented with the Virtual Backpack Award by the Oregon Connections Academy Parents Association (ORCAPA).
Last year, Rep. Huffman received the Virtual Backpack Award from ORCAPA.
