PANCAKE FEED: The Dalles First United Methodist Church will be having a Shrove Tuesday pancake feed on March 4, at 6 p.m. All are welcome.
BOOK SALE: The Dalles Friends of Library book sale blow out is set for Saturday, March 8, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 722 Court St. at the Book Barn behind the library. Books will be available by the bagful. Cost from 9 to 10 a.m. is $3 per bag, from 10 to 11 a.m. $2 per bag, and from 11 a.m. to noon is $1 per bag. From noon to 1 p.m. cost is $1 per two bags. MARDI GRAS: Columbia Gorge Discovery Center is celebrating Mardi Gras Friday, Feb. 28, at 6 p.m. Put on masks, beads and other bright colored bling and celebrate Fat Tuesday.

WEIGHT EQUIPMENT: North Wasco County School District 21 is selling older weight equipment from the Wahtonka Gym. Anyone interested in viewing the equipment may do so Friday, Feb. 28, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. and Saturday, March 1, from 1 to 2 p.m.

PANCAKE FEED: The public is invited to indulge in a pancake supper Tuesday, March 4, from 5 to 7 p.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 1805 Minnesota street.
The traditional pancake feast comes from celebrating the last day of rich foods before Lent begins. Tickets are $7 per person or $15 per family, available by calling Niki at 503-866-9874 or Janeal at 541-980-7422 or at the door. Proceeds from this event will benefit Relay for Life.

PANCAKE FEED: Klickitat County Fire Department No. 6 Dallesport/Murdock Fire Department hosts a pancake feed March 15, 7 to 10 a.m. at the Dallesport Fire Station.
All proceeds go to the Dallesport Fire Department building fund. All you can eat pancakes, endless coffee and juice, $5 per person.
PIRATE CARNIVAL: Klickitat School’s parent teacher organization hosts its eighth annual Pirate Carnival Sunday, March 16, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the school gym.
Activities include pirate-themed carnival games, a silent auction, costume contest for children and adults, clam chowder, root beer floats and more goodies. Proceeds from the auction and carnival promote positive activities for Klickitat students.
HOLIDAY CONCERT: St. Pat’s at Old St. Pete’s, the annual Cascade Singers St. Patrick’s Day concert at St. Peter’s Landmark, is set for Monday, March 17, at 7 p.m.
A children’s choir and instrumentalists will join in the performance with the Cascade Singers, ensemble and the Almost-All-Irish-Almost-All-Brass Band for Irish favorites and sing-alongs.
Admission is a free-will offering to benefit the Landmark at Third and Lincoln streets.

SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION: The Columbia Gorge Community College Foundation’s high-school scholarship application is now available. Any Mid-Columbia high school student graduating in spring 2014 may apply. Recipients may be awarded up to 12 credits tuition per term which can only be used at Columbia Gorge Community College. Recipients must attend CGCC in the 2014-15 academic year. Applications may be picked up in the Student Services department at The Dalles or Hood River campus as well as online at http://cgcc.edu/financial-aid/scholarships.
Applications must be delivered to either The Dalles or Hood River Student Services department at Columbia Gorge Community College no later than noon, Thursday, April 10.

BINGO THURSDAY: The Dalles Meals on Wheels, Inc. has bingo every Thursday night starting at 6 p.m. at 1112 W. 9th St., The Dalles. Minimum buy-in is $8 and players could win between $750 to $1,000 on the pink card game. The Dalles Meals on Wheels has been serving seniors for over 40 years both in their homes and at the congregate mealsite. Bingo is our major fund raiser and makes up about 35 percent of the budget.

SUPPORT PROGRAM: The National Family Caregiver Support Program has respite funding available. Are you caring for an adult 60 years of age or older?
Are you at least 55 or older and raising a grandchild or grandchildren? Respite, a temporary break from caregiving duties, can make a world of difference in helping family caregivers.

EXERCISE PROGRAM: There are three components to exercise, stretching, strength training, and aerobics. The Oregon State Extension service sponsors three Strong People programs in The Dalles and Mosier that will address the strength training and stretching portion. COAT GIVEAWAY: The Salvation Army is offering coats all winter long during business hours for people in need, Monday through Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at their office or thrift store at 623 E. Third St. in The Dalles.
Coats will be given to low-income individuals and families in need of warm coats for the winter.
