First United Methodist Church

First United Methodist Church is having an Ash Wednesday service March 5 at 7 p.m. The church will also have a Shrove Tuesday dinner of pancakes, sausage, coffee and juice March 4 at 6 p.m., all free of charge.

St. Paul’s Episcopal

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church is getting ready for its Fat Tuesday/Shrove Tuesday Pancake Feed on March 4, from 5-7 p.m. to benefit Relay for Life, as the church ushers in Lent. Ash Wednesday services are at noon and 7 p.m., with a short service of imposition of ashes at The Springs at Mill Creek at 1:30 p.m.

“As we go through Lent, we’re going to focus on forgiveness — all are invited to join in Wednesday night soup suppers with readings and discussions and compline. We also look forward to offering the peace and beauty of Taize in the Chapel on Union St. on Tuesday evenings at 7 p.m. We pray that we all have a Lent of repentance and growth in love and kindness- please come and join in.

St. Paul’s is located at 1805 Minnesota St., on the hill off of Dry Hollow, in The Dalles. Sunday Services are at 8 a.m. and 10 a.m., with discussion hour in between. Visit www.stpauls, or call 541.296.9587. All are welcome.

Last Days of Jesus

The annual dessert auction fundraiser for the Last Days of Jesus Pageant is set for Friday, March 15, at 6 p.m. at Covenant Christian Community Church.

A taco salad bar for purchase, will be run by the Child Evangelism Fellowship. All proceeds will benefit the Child Evangelism Fellowship ministry.

The auction begins at 7 p.m., and will feature silent and live items.

The theme this year is Easter baskets.

Desserts up for auction will range from simple homemade chocolate chip cookies to an extravagant strawberry torte with chocolate ganache. The Anzac Tea Parlour will again be donating a dessert to the auction. The auction usually nets $3,000 for the annual pageant.

Mid-Columbia Fellowship of Churches

The Mid-Columbia Fellowship of Churches annual meeting and catered dinner is Saturday, March 1, at 6 p.m. in the fellowship hall of First United Methodist Church, 305 E. 11th St, The Dalles. This event is open to all interested persons. Reservations are required by Monday, Feb. 24.

Gateway Presbyterian

Pastor Rich Zimmerman will give the message at the 8:30 a.m. traditional and 11 a.m. contemporary services. Classes for adults, youth and children are 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.

Wednesday classes begin at 6 p.m. and include youth group, women’s study, men’s study and Parenting TODAY, which begins at 5:30. Childcare provided during classes.

Thursdays is men’s Bible study at 6:30 a.m., and ACTS after school.

St. Mary Catholic Church

Anointing of the Sick communal service is set at St. Mary Catholic Church in Wasco on Sunday, March 2 at 5 p.m., followed by a free soup supper. Anyone dealing with chronic or serious health issues, depression or addictions, or getting ready for medical procedures or surgery is encouraged to come for prayer. Catholics may be anointed, non-Catholics receive a special blessing.
