The Dalles City

December 30, 8:08 p.m. – Two vehicle, non-injury accident, 400 block of Mt. Hood Street. Driver information was not available. One driver was cited during the incident for no operator’s license. A report was taken.

December 31, 2:23 p.m. . – Two vehicle, non-injury accident at the junction of West Sixth and Webber. Information exchanged.

December 31, 5:18 p.m.– Two vehicle, non-injury accident at the junction of East 14th and Federal streets. Information exchanged.

January 1, 8:59 p.m.– Two vehicle, non-injury accident at West Second and Union streets.


December 30, 4:51 a.m. – Personnel responded to the 4200 block of Skyline Road on a report of a smoke alarm. Upon arrival light smoke was observed inside the home. Several attempts were made to try and wake someone up in the home. The door hinges were removed and entry was made into the home where there was light smoke throughout. It was determined there was no one home but a dog. A woodstove was found smoldering in the basement giving off little heat but causing the smoke. The wood and ashes were removed from the stove and the home was ventilated. The home was secured prior to leaving.

Personnel also responded to six calls for emergency medical services on Monday,

A smoke investigation in the 3000 block of West 7th Street revealed an open burn in a field. Fire was tended, and subject advised that time had run out for burning. Subject put out the fire.

Crews burning pine beetle-nfected wood at the Park and Recreation maintenance yard were advised Tuesday morning that burning was not allowed in the city, and advised to contact code enforcement for additional information.

Crews investigated a home in the 400 block of West Second Place after a report that the house smelled of natural gas Tuesday afternoon. No gas detected.

Crews investigated an in-stove explosion at a home in the 500 block of West Eighth Street Wednesday morning. No fire detected. Homeowner advised to have the natural gas stove checked before using again.

Crews also responded to 13 requests for emergency medical services Tuesday and Wednesday.

Police Reports

The Dalles City

A criminal mischief report was taken Monday morning from the 3200 block of West 7th Street after a victim reported their vehicle was vandalized.

Luis Eduardo Flores, 22, 1125 Sunflower St., was arrested Monday afternoon in the 200 block of Steelhead Way and is accused of first-degree theft.

A hit and run report was taken Monday afternoon from the 2800 block of West 7th Street.

A found property report was taken Monday afternoon from the 3000 block of West 10th Street after a bicycle was left on the caller’s property. The bike was taken to impound.

An identity theft report was taken Monday evening from the 200 block of West 10th Street after a victim reported their credit card information was stolen.

An attempted burglary was reported Wednesday morning at the Gleaners facility in the 3400 block of Crates Way. Entry was through the back door, and a safe was damaged in an attempt to remove it from the wall.

A man was arrested in the 600 block of East Scenic Drive Wednesday evening and is charged with criminal mischief after “tearing the house up,” putting a hole in the kitchen wall and wrecking a toaster.

Wasco County

Deputy responded to the 4700 block of Northwest Drive Monday afternoon after a caller reported observing a male subject casing homes in the area. When the suspect was confronted he stated he was with a real estate company and left the area. The subject was not found.

Deputy responded to the 3800 block of West 10th Street Monday evening on a report of an assault. Caller reported two male subjects were assaulted by another male suspect in the area. Investigation discovered this was a minor case of harassment and no one wanted to pursue charges.

A man in the 900 block of Irvine was arrested on three warrants Tuesday afternoon.

An old female yellow lab found standing in the middle of the road on Chenowith Loop Road was transported and housed at Home at Last Wednesday.

Melynda S. Broadhead, 37, The Dalles, was arrested during a traffic stop on Second Street early Tuesday morning and faces charges of Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants.

Regional Jail

Stacy Lynn Gerdes, 23, Battle Ground, Wash., was booked and released Monday on a circuit court warrant for contempt of court.

Chance Raymond Graham, 25, 4109 Chenowith Rd. Unit E-3, was jailed Monday on a circuit court commitment for identity theft.

Twilla Miles, 53, Maupin, was booked and released Monday on a circuit court commitment for driving under the influence of intoxicants and reckless driving.

Tracy A. Portner, 44, 4405 Highway 30 West #714, was arrested Wednesday on contempt of court charges involved theft in the first degree.

Parole & Probation

Jimmy Lee Cain, 21, The Dalles, was jailed Tuesday with three warrants for parole violations.

Russell D. Foster, 50, Portland, was arrested on Interstate 84 Tuesday evening on a warrant for parole violations in Washington County.

Victor S. Campos, The Dalles, was arrested Tuesday afternoon for parole violations, including possession of methamphetamine and second-degree theft.

Ashlee R. Kaviter, The Dalles, was arrested Thursday morning for parole violations.

Christopher E. Matney, The Dalles, was arrested Wednesday evening for parole violations.

Chrystal L. Estey, Wasco, was arrested Tuesday morning for parole violations.
