SALEM (AP) — Oregon first lady Cylvia Hayes has unveiled energy efficiency upgrades to Mahonia Hall, the governor’s official residence in Salem.
Hayes gave reporters a tour of the 90-year-old mansion Monday. Over the summer, contractors installed more than 200 energy-efficient light bulbs, improved insulation and sealed air leaks throughout the 10,000 square-foot property.
They also installed window linings made by Indow Windows, a Portland startup, to improve efficiency without disturbing the original windows on the historic home.
Labor and materials were donated by contractor Neil Lane Company, Clean Energy Works Oregon and other companies.
The value is estimated at about $6,000.
Hayes says it’s too soon to know how much money the upgrades will save.
