Police: Beware Windy River Gleaner checks

The Dalles Police Department has asked storeowners to be on the lookout for two checks that have been stolen from Windy River Gleaners, which the thief might attempt to cash.

Chief Jay Waterbury is asking owners and clerks not to accept a Gleaner’s check if the passer is not positively identified as the account holder.

He said 911 should be called if either check number 1320 or 191 from Rivermark Community Credit Union are presented.

Waterbury also asks that, if either of these checks show up, they not be returned to the person who provided them.

He said, if possible, the passer’s name and date of birth should be recorded if identification is used by that individual.

People with information about the theft are asked to call 541-296-2613.
