TDW girls throttle Franklin, 65-11

The Dalles Wahtonka had its second-highest scoring output along with its best defensive effort Friday night in a 54-point blowout of Franklin in a lopsided 5A battle in The Dalles.

TDW’s defense held Franklin without a field goal for the first two quarters, and the offense reeled off scores of 25-1 and 16-1 to lead 41-2 at halftime.

Franklin had things working in the second half, but TDW had things well in hand and still managed to put together outcomes of 7-5 and 17-4 in the final two periods for the win.

Olivia Starks led the Tribe with 14 points, Emily Bailey added 10 and Katie Conklin had nine points.

All told, the Tribe drained 28 field goals, two from long range, and went 7 for 13 from the free throw line.

Lori Cimmiyotti and Morgan Goslin hit on six points each, Brooke McCall grabbed five and Sierra Watson totaled four points.

“Our girls played well, tons of playing time for younger players,” said TDW coach Dan Telles. “When playing a team like this, it is difficult to keep your intensity level up, but our girls did a great job of doing so.”

TDW (9-1 overall) hosts No. 8 Dallas (4-3) at 6 p.m. tonight.
