Foundation to host fundraising events

Columbia Gorge Gatherings, a series of fundraising and friend-raising social events, resume this year as benefits for the Columbia Gorge Community College Foundation endowment fund.

In 2010, CGCC received a Title III grant that included an endowment match challenge. The Title III grant will match up to $200,000 during the grant’s life, which is five years. Once the principle goal is reached, this fund will allow the foundation to invest the interest in CGCC’s students and programs. Since the endowment’s principle is never spent, gifts to this fund help create financial stability. This makes each gift part of a long-term investment in the college, benefiting students and faculty for generations.

In 2013, Columbia Gorge Gatherings included three events that contributed to the permanent endowment fund by raising $6,325.

This year, the foundation is hosting three more events, providing additional opportunities for community members to support this initiative.

Space is limited for each gathering. To obtain cost information or reservations for one or more of the gatherings, please call the foundation office at (541) 506-6121. Events include:

French Wine Exploration: Hosted at White Buffalo Wine Bar & Bistro in Hood River, this event brings together delicious cuisine expertly paired with French wines, Friday, Feb. 7, at 6 p.m. Maximum number of guests is 30.

Kentucky Derby Party: The Riverenza is hosting The Derby, complete with southern fare, drinks and live race entertainment. Experience the thrill in Derby attire and hats, Saturday, May 3, at 2 p.m. Maximum number of guests is 40.

U.K. Beer Tasting: Marley’s Corner offers an intriguing menu from the U.K., paired with beer. Complete with fish and chips and pasties, this tasting is not for the faint of heart, Sunday, July 27, at 6 p.m. Maximum number of guests is 20.
