Art Center seeks Hispanic artists

The Dalles Art Center is seeking entries for its May juried art exhibit, Viv los Artistas.

Entries for this show are open to artists in the Hispanic community. Works in all media and any topic are welcome.

This show is open to the Mid-Columbia area and will be juried by Analee Fuentes, art instructor at Linn-Benton College.

Cash prizes for first, second and third place will be awarded, as well as a People’s Choice award.

Submissions will be accepted between Tuesday, April 15, and Saturday, April 19, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. A nonrefundable $10 fee will be charged per submitted piece with a maximum of three.

Entries are to be the artists own, original work, completed within the past year. No reproductions, copy or class work will be accepted. Artists should keep in mind that using someone else’s photograph or image, unless substantially changed, is not original.

Work should not have been previously shown at The Dalles Art Center.

Work must be ready to display or hang. Where appropriate, work must be framed and able to hang from a hook. Use a wire, rather than a toothed hanger.

Artists with special display needs should contact the Art Center ahead of time to make arrangements.

Work accepted into a show is to remain for the duration of the show, unless the director grants a specific exemption. Work must be removed promptly at the end of the show, unless prior arrangements have been made.

Art Center personnel prefer work for sale, but do not require it. The gallery will receive a 35 percent commission on any work sold during the show.

The Dalles Art Center reserves the right to make the final decision on what to included in the show.
