The Wasco County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting Sunday evening at a labor camp on Pleasant Ridge Road.
“We’re not sure if it was a personal issue, a problem between people who knew each other or if it was gang related,” Chief Deputy Lane Magill said today.
According to reports, deputies were dispatched at about 5:50 p.m. July 13 on a report of shots fired.
They found a man who had been shot and arranged for his transport via ambulance to Mid-Columbia Medical Center for an evaluation. His injuries were determined to be non-life threatening and he was released from the hospital the same evening.
Magill said the Major Crimes Team was activated and officers from The Dalles City Police and Oregon State Police assisted in the investigation.
They determined that unnamed suspects came to the camp and shot the victim, although the motivation is still being determined.
Magill said the name of the victim and further details are being withheld until the investigation is complete. He said the shooting appears to be an isolated incident and no threat to the general public is anticipated.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 541-506-2580.
