PORTLAND (AP) — A Portland man charged with aiming a laser beam at two commercial airliners flying toward Portland International Airport last fall has pleaded guilty in federal court.
Stephen Francis Bukucs is scheduled to be sentenced Oct. 24.
The Oregonian reports that federal prosecutors plan to seek a two-year prison term for the 40-year-old former security guard.
After FBI planes were targeted by green lasers, investigators tracked down the laser beam to Bukucs’ apartment. They say Bukucs pointed a laser at airplanes multiple times.
The lasers can temporarily blind pilots.
