McCall game-winner leads ‘AAA’ Hustlers

Nolan McCall hit a walk-off, two-run double in the bottom of the seventh inning, as the Columbia Gorge ‘AAA’ Hustlers came back from a 7-6 deficit to defeat Champion Baseball 8-7 in a nine-inning American Legion baseball matchup Thursday at Quinton Street Ballpark.

Down by one run, Payton Eaton reached after being hit by a pitch. Steven Bartells and Colin Noonan then smacked back-to-back singles to load the bases for McCall.

On a 3-1 pitch, McCall tomahawked a two-run double to plate Eaton and Bartells to give TD the win.

Colton Walker picked up the relief win, as he tossed 4 2/3 innings of four-hit ball with three strikeouts and a walk.

Champion Baseball had previously taken a 7-6 lead with a pair of unearned runs in the top of the ninth.

Noonan had two hits and scored twice, Bartells went 2 for 5 with a run scored, Zachary Keimig finished 2 for 3, and Clay Copper had a hit and a sacrifice fly for his three RBIs.

The Hustlers play Champion Baseball again for a nine-inning tilt at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
