To the editor:
Thanks to my daughters, Dee Hill, Donna Smith and Loretta Commander this 94-year-old lady got to spend the night with my sister-in-law Donna Davis at the new Fairfield Inn.
I spent most of the winter watching the construction and finally got to see the final project up close and personal. I was very pleased with the beautiful colors of the interior walls and carpets. It has such a warm and welcoming feel to it. I found a large indoor pool, an exercise room, large dining area where they served a great free breakfast buffet-style with numerous choices.
The lobby was great with seating for visiting and a nice fireplace. They even had a small store with a variety of items to choose from and a good wine selection. I was pleased to find an ice and drink machine on each floor.
You can tell I haven’t had much experience in motel living as this was all pretty new and exciting to me. I worked in the motel trade a number of years ago, but I guarantee we never had anything like this.
To my amazement, they allow pets and have a number of rooms to accommodate them, also for handicapped guests. Although I probably qualified for one of these rooms, I stayed in a regular room that had two queen-sized beds, microwave, refrigerator and large flat-screen TV. I found the landscaping quite pleasant and relaxing with outside seating tables and a fire pit. I can easily recommend this new motel to my friends and family.
I found the staff extremely friendly and accommodating. I was impressed when I mentioned to a staff member that because I am very short I had trouble getting into the new-fangled high beds. Before the evening was over, they went out and bought a stool to allow me to get into bed. Now, that is service!
I admit I was concerned about how this business would affect “my” neighborhood. I am happy to say, “Welcome to the neighborhood.”
