Five bands will square off for a chance to win cash, prizes and professional exposure at the second annual Rivertap Battle of the Bands, Friday, Aug. 29.
Organizers are taking applications now for the event.
“We are excited to bring this event back after a very successful launch last year,” said Nolan Hare, event director. “Our goal is to once again bring the community together and showcase some great up and coming local artists and hopefully flush out some talented bands that most people haven’t had a chance to experience yet.”
This 21-and-older event will cover the whole Rivertap property on the corner of Second and Madison Streets in downtown The Dalles, as well as a portion of the adjoining Bicoastal Media parking lot. It will feature a large stage, food specials, a beer garden, and indoor and outdoor seating.
“We are working with some great local sponsors to make this event a success while keeping tickets affordable,” Hare says. “A large portion of the proceeds from ticket sales will be paid directly to the top three bands.” Participating bands will be pre-selling tickets, which will be available once the 5 finalists have been announced.

brewersgrade.com including: Band name, genre, contact name, contact phone, and all online resources such as: website, Facebook, Youtube, Reverbnation, EPKs and links to any other photos, videos, or music.
Participants will be chosen at the sole discretion of the event directors. Five finalists and full show details will be announced and posted at The Dalles Rivertap at noon Friday, Aug. 15.
Each band will be allowed up to 20 minutes. Judging criteria will include originality, stage presence, overall sound, crowd interaction, pre-sale draw and text votes. Three judges will score each performance, and will determine first, second and third place prize winners. Full contest rules will be available soon at Rivertap in The Dalles.
