The Columbia Gorge Lions Club presents the 39th annual Sternwheeler Days Festival June 27, 28 and 29, celebrating the gorge by showcasing vendors from the local area and surrounding regions.
Event times are Friday noon to 9 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The rendezvous of the Mountain Men will be on Thunder Island depicting fur trading camps of the 1830’s and 40’s. There will be live demonstrations during the event, like firing the cannon and ax throwing.
Also planned are live entertainment, food and craft vendors, Walk on Water balls, Bingo, kid’s games, pony rides and church in the park Sunday morning.
Also featured this year will be the salmon bake at 4 p.m. Saturday afternoon, a beer garden all weekend, pig roast, Movies in the Park Friday night and a chili cook-off hosted by the Cascade Locks fire department, plus a parade Saturday morning at 11 a.m. down Wanapa, and the 5k and 10k walk/run held at 9 a.m. Saturday morning.
The Lion’s club will be giving away free Sternwheeler ride tickets every two hours during the Sternwheeler Days Festival. Winners don’t need to be present. Sign up at the Lion’s information booth near the pavilion.
