CENTRAL POINT (ODFW) – A Free Fishing Weekend event scheduled for this Saturday on Lost Creek Reservoir has been cancelled due to a harmful algae bloom.
The event, sponsored by Oregon State Parks, was cancelled when the Oregon Health Authority issued a health advisory due to high levels of algae in the lake.
The ODFW will move forward with plans to stock the lake in anticipation of Free Fishing Weekend June 7-8.
According to the OHA, people visiting the lake should try to minimize contact with the water but can continue to enjoy activities such as fishing, camping, hiking, picnicking and bird watching.
