Butterfly release set for Saturday June 7

The sixth annual Community Memorial Butterfly Release is planned for June in three Columbia Gorge locations.

This year’s event will feature painted lady butterflies instead of monarchs due to restrictions on the larger species.

The first event will be Saturday, June 7, at 10 a.m. at Sorosis Park in The Dalles. The same day, butterflies will also be released at 2 p.m. at Jackson Park in Hood River. On Saturday, June 14, at 11 a.m., Rock Cove in Stevenson will be the site of the third release.

This free memorial of healing is intended to provide a nurturing, renewing experience for anyone in the community who is grieving a loss or wishes to honor the memory of a loved one.
