Letter to the editor: Concert success

To the editor:

The Dalles-Wasco County Library Foundation would like to publicly thank the following people and entities for their help in making our recent library expansion project fundraiser a success: Dan and Crystal Ross of Silver Wire Productions, Tim Schechtel of the Mint, Rebecca Street Physical Therapy, Bob and Mary Hill, Cal Scott and Kathryn Claire.

The Cal Scott and Kathryn Claire concert held at the Mint on May 31 raised more than $800 for the library project, bringing the total raised for the project to more than $118,000.00.

During the past two years the foundation has been working to raise funds for a new area at the library dedicated to children. The foundation’s goal is to raise $200,000 of the estimated $900,000 cost from local contributions in order to make successful grant applications for the remaining dollars needed. A local family has pledges to match funds raised up to $100,000.

With the community’s support, the foundation is well on its way to raising the matching funds needed for this project and is continuing to accept donations. Thank you to everyone who has supported this project.

Project design will be presented to the City Council on June 23.

Ken Farner, president
