Correction

The June 6 article on the Faith page of the Chronicle with USMC Capt. (retired) Dan Brophy, an ordained minister with Pointman Ministries, mentioned that drill instructors sometimes used physical force to install Corps values. Brophy wanted it clarified that he, personally, never beat lessons into recruits – he had many other methods of getting their attention. He also wanted it known that he was given command authority during a battlefield crisis in Vietnam but his promotion to second lieutenant did become official until he had returned to the states.

On the same page, the Faith brief entitled “Community Church Service” contained an incorrect phone number of Dick LaFever. The correct number is 541-999-0971.
