Letter to the editor: Inn on the way

To the editor:

I am a semi shut-in at the age of 94 and living directly across the street from the new Marriott Fairfield Inn. I have had the enjoyment from day one of watching the building in progress. As of June 22, it appears it will soon be open for business

I would like to compliment all the different workers, companies and individuals as I never saw any police or ambulances during the entire procedures; which would indicate that they all got along well together and worked safely. I noticed that the grounds were cleaned every day and sometimes twice, depending on the weather.

Even though parking was extremely limited, I never saw any disagreements. This is my first experience of seeing such a nice building from start to finish. I hope to be able to attend the opening of this building if they have one.

I don’t understand the difference between a motel, inn or suites, but maybe when I am able to get into the building and see it, I hope to.

I wish the Marriott great success and hope they keep the parking lot filled. I also hope they find sufficient off-street parking for the big truck and trailers so they won’t continue parking in front of my building. I understand the need to be close to motels and restaurants for these drivers, but their trucks parked on my block and on the street really cause a safety problem for us living here.
