The Dalles To the editor:
The front page article in The Chronicle about the serious financial situation facing St. Vincent de Paul is very disturbing to us.
As volunteers at the Warming Place and for Community Meals (both programs of St. Vincent de Paul), we know first-hand how important these ministries are to members of our community who struggle with homelessness and hunger.
We also support the Back to School program each fall by providing school supplies to deserving children.
Our family has appreciated the opportunity to shop for good values at the St. Vincent Store and have donated good, reusable items for resale.
All of these opportunities to create a healthier and happier community will go away if St. Vincent de Paul closes, and that would be a shame. Please join us in showing support for this valuable ministry by shopping at its store at 505 W. 9th St., donating merchandise or making a monetary contribution.
Your efforts and dollars will go a long way to help The Dalles remain a hospitable and healthy town. Our check is in the mail!
