Artist James Lee Hansen helps Maryhill celebrate

Maryhill Museum of Art opens Saturday, March 15, with several education programs to kick off the season.

Join artist James Lee Hansen, one of the Pacific Northwest’s most lauded Modernist sculptors as he talks about his life and work.

A members’ opening reception is set at 5 p.m., with hors d’oeuvres and wine with Hansen, Angela Swedberg and Shannon Wheeler, curator of The Flip Side.

Later in the month, Maryhill hosts an Art Party on bookmaking with Roberta Lavadour. Participants will spend an evening playing in the arts at Maryhill. Lavadour will guide participants in a book binding experience.

No experience is necessary and participants will gain some basic skills to apply to future projects. They will also leave with a distinctive book for journaling or sketching. Wine and hors d’oeuvres will be served. For cost and to register, call 509-773-3733, ext. 25.
