Chenowith Water PUD will begin flushing hydrants March 10 and continue for the next few weeks.
The process is important to keep water lines free of sediment and mineral deposits. It is also important to flush hydrants to verify proper operation and record fire flows. The district flushes hydrants twice a year to maintain water quality and meet fire insurance requirements.
Residents are asked to avoid driving or walking through the water coming from the hydrants. If that’s not possible, they are asked to proceed with caution.
If system users see discolored water and fine sediment particles in their water supplies, the district recommends letting an outside faucet run to clear the lines. Don’t use hot water until they are clear.
