TD baseball loses home opener, 3-2

The Dalles battled back from a 2-1 deficit for one run in the bottom of the sixth inning, but Marist scored the eventual game-winner in the top of the seventh and hung on for a 3-2 victory Monday in a non-league hardball contest at Quinton Street Ballpark.

TD pitchers Austin Wilson, Colton Walker and Clayton Ringer surrendered just two hits, but walked seven and allowed two unearned runs as the team committed three errors in the field.

Wilson got the start and tossed three innings of non-hit ball with two strikeouts and four walks.

Walker ended up earning the loss, as he faced nine batters, walked two and was tagged for an unearned run.

Nolan McCall paced the Tribe’s four-hit attack with a 2 for 4 effort with a stolen base and an RBI.

Gordy Harris and Zach Cantrell had a hit apiece, with Cantrell slamming a double, stealing a base and driving in a run.

Colin Noonan and Wilson each scored runs, but with the four hits and four walks, The Dalles stranded five runners on base.

TD (0-1 overall) next travels to Redmond for another non-league tilt at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

At noon Saturday, the Eagle Indians head to Bend for a doubleheader.
